Initial Setup:

1. Preparation:

   • Rinse Thoroughly: Before adding PhosBond to your aquarium, rinse it thoroughly with dechlorinated water to remove any dust or debris. If using tap water, treat it with a water conditioner like Seachem Prime to neutralize chlorine and chloramine.

2. Placement:

   • Filter Media Bag: Place the rinsed PhosBond in a filter media bag. This makes it easier to handle and maintain.
   • Filter Installation: Insert the media bag into your filter. PhosBond can be used in canister filters, media chambers, box filters, or any high-flow area of a trickle filter. Ensure it is placed in an area with good water flow to maximize its effectiveness.

3. Initial Dosing:

   • Amount: Use 60 mL (1/4 cup) of PhosBond for every 200 liters (50 US gallons) of saltwater or 400 liters (100 US gallons) of freshwater. Adjust the quantity based on your tank size.

Maintenance:

1. Regular Testing:

   • Frequency: Leave the product in place for 4 days, then test phosphate or silicate concentrations.
   • Replacement: If the concentration of the component you are trying to decrease has not dropped to around 0.02 mg/L, replace the PhosBond. Otherwise, leave it in place until levels begin to climb again.

2. Regular Cleaning:

   • Frequency: During regular filter maintenance, rinse the PhosBond media bag in aquarium water that you have removed during a water change. Avoid using tap water directly as it can reduce the effectiveness of the media.
   • Debris Removal: Gently shake the media bag to dislodge any accumulated debris. This helps maintain optimal water flow and filtration efficiency.

3. Replacement:

   • Longevity: PhosBond can be left in the filter until phosphate or silicate levels begin to rise again. Continuous use of small quantities is better than intermittent use of larger quantities.
   • Partial Replacement: If you notice a decline in filtration efficiency, consider replacing a portion (about 25-50%) of the PhosBond media. This helps maintain consistent filtration while introducing fresh media.

4. Monitoring:

   • Water Parameters: Regularly test your aquarium water for phosphate and silicate levels. This helps ensure that the chemical filtration is functioning effectively.
   • Adjustments: If you observe elevated levels of these compounds, check the placement and cleanliness of the PhosBond media and adjust as necessary.

1. How often should I replace PhosBond?
   Replace PhosBond when phosphate or silicate levels begin to rise again, typically every few weeks depending on your aquarium’s conditions.

2. Can I use PhosBond in a reef tank?
   Yes, PhosBond is safe for use in both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, including reef tanks.

3. Will PhosBond affect my aquarium’s pH?
   No, PhosBond has minimal impact on pH levels due to its low ash content.

You may return most new, unopened items within 7 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).

You should expect to receive your refund within four weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (5 to 10 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (3 to 5 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (5 to 10 business days).

If you need to return an item, simply login to your account, view the order using the "Complete Orders" link under the My Account menu and click the Return Item(s) button. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
